Hydrostatic sensor paver finisher, laying to grade and slope from a reference rather than to the operator's eye.
The sensor is what separates this from a mechanical finisher. Levelling sensors read a stringline or a ski and correct the screed continuously, so the laid surface follows the design profile instead of following the machine. On work that will be checked for riding quality that is the difference between passing and relaying.
